About Dre

My creative side was given free rein when we moved to a farm in the beautiful Overberg area.
Living on the farm, I started to spend more time outdoors enjoying the fresh water and clean air. I started to take notes and collect plant species. All my senses were awakened by the abundance of the plants, and the color of the Overberg fynbos. By doing this, the process took me back to the memories of when I grew up in the Little Karoo.
My mother used to spin and weave and dye her yarns, using what was around us.  That inspired me to use what is around me.
I am not a trained artist and the natural processes with botanical printing allowed me to be the host where nature does the art.
Foraged Fabrik was born when I experimented and used what was available on the farm to upcycle an old tablecloth I inherited from my Gran.
Now, as a business, I am very motivated to work and offer employment to the local community, the reason why all our products are printed and designed on the farm in the Overberg.
Pleased to be able to work with a local designer, offering employment to highly skilled retired seamstresses in the area too.
